Precaution

Many people have used baking soda to improve their skin tone without any side effects. But few people claimed they suffered some skin irritation after using baking soda for skin whitening. Thus, it is important to take precautions when using baking soda for the skin.

Baking soda acts as an exfoliant and skin whitener because of its number of abrasive particles. Sodium bicarbonate is an alkaline, but the human skin is acidic.

Many people, however, do not find any issue with some commercial skin care products – these products are also alkaline and do not cause any problem to users. But some people with sensitive skin react to these products, and they do not find it useful using alkaline products.

Avoid applying baking soda on sunburns, sores, burns, bruises, cuts, or any form of skin damage to prevent irritation.
